How to use Google Docs to Enhance Classroom Instruction?


Population: Middle and High School Teachers


Outcomes:

  • Teachers will enhance classroom instruction using a learner-centered approach.
  • Teachers will become professional collaborators and develop interactive lesson plans.
  • Teachers will appreciate the ability to work anytime, and anywhere to enhance their instruction.
  • Teachers will learn how to become facilitators of academic knowledge and technology integration.
  • Teachers will gain instant access to new graphic organizers, spreadsheets, and presentation templates.

Gap: My participants already know that using technology can make teaching and collaborating an easier process. However, most of my coworkers only have experience with using email and basic computer skills. Therefore, they need to realize that Google Docs software is available for teachers and students to post work and retrieve files from one location using any computer with Internet access. I want my coworkers to learn that students can gain a deeper understanding of academic content when they use digital resources such as Google Docs. Students and teachers can become effective collaborators as they work on the same assignments simulatenously.
